Roles and functions of CNAs
Taking CNA classes would lead up to a career as a Certified Nursing Assistant. CNAs are most commonly known as nursing aides. Meanwhile, a Certified Nursing Assistant who chooses to work outside hospital premises can continue taking care of patients in other institutions including adult day care centers, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities. In these settings, they are still supervised by nurses and doctors, but they have more interaction with the patients. Others choose to take care of patients at the latter’s residences. When CNAs choose this path, they become full time cares of the patient and the interaction is more personal as the CNA tends to the needs of the patient on a regular basis. In some cases, they live in the house to ensure that utmost care is given to the patient. This is particularly useful; for patients who have just undergone surgery or a major medical episode.
